Corey Oates | Fore Golf Brand Ambassador

In a exciting fusion of sports worlds, former Brisbane Broncos winger Corey Oates has officially joined Fore Golf as a Brand Ambassador. The innovative golf apparel brand, known for its modern take on performance-driven clothing that emphasises comfort and style, has welcomed Oates with open arms. As an ex-NRL star who has traded the try line for the tee box, Oates brings his passion for golf and his eye for looking sharp on the course to the Fore Golf family. This partnership highlights Fore Golf's mission to break away from stuffy traditions, offering breathable, vibrant attire that's perfect for Australia's sunny greens.
Oates, a Queensland rugby league icon, enjoyed a stellar career with the Brisbane Broncos, where he played as a dynamic winger. Debuting in 2013, he became a fan favourite for his powerful runs and try-scoring prowess, amassing over 100 tries in his NRL tenure and earning multiple State of Origin caps for the Maroons. Highlights include his incredible put-downs and consistent performances, such as being the Broncos' top try scorer in several seasons. After retiring from professional rugby in 2024, Oates has fully embraced golf, a sport he's loved since childhood, introduced to him by his paternal grandparents.
What draws Oates to Fore Golf? In his own words, "What excites me about FG is that it's breaking the mould for traditional golfing attire and I love not being hot on the course in the refreshing and bright colours." This quote captures the essence of why he's the perfect fit—Fore Golf's lineup features lightweight fabrics and bold hues that keep players cool and confident, even under the Brisbane sun. Oates appreciates how the brand redefines golf fashion, making it accessible and fun for athletes from all backgrounds.
On the golfing front, Oates is honest about his journey. His current handicap sits at 26, a dip from his earlier mark around 20, attributed to focusing on the tail end of his NRL career. "My handicap is 26 at the moment as I haven't been playing much golf as I came to the end of my NRL career," he shares. Despite the break, his personal bests shine through: an impressive 81 at Nudgee Golf Course and an 82 at Indooroopilly. While a hole-in-one remains elusive—"Yet to score a hole-in-one but that is the goal"—Oates is determined to chase it, embodying the perseverance that defined his rugby days.
Why Did I Choose Fore Golf?
What excites me about FG is that it's breaking the mould for traditional golfing attire and I love not being hot on the course in the refreshing and bright colours. I have a few shirts and pairs of the Dak now and just love the freedom when playing in them. Its great to see them combine comfort and style into golfing attire.
Handicap Aim for 2026
My regularity on the course has been sparse and it has heavily affected where my handicap currently sits. 2026, and the end to my NRL career, will see me get out more regularly working on my short game and I am hoping to get the handicap down to around mid teens.
I really want to get back to my best and the feeling when I shot 81 at Nudgee. Nothing beats sinking puts with your mates, ok maybe scoring origin tries and climbing the broncos all-time try-scoring list does, but this is definitely a close second.
Corey's Favourites
